"Uniquely Striped"

No two zebras have the same stripes.
Not one. Not ever. In a herd of thousands, every single one is distinct.

I thought about that a great deal while drawing this piece. The stripes are not decoration — they are identity. Carried from birth and impossible to change, it is entirely their own. The zebra does not choose its pattern and does not apologize for it. It simply is what it is, completely and without compromise.

I grew up across four countries: Nigeria, the United Kingdom, China, and Ethiopia. I spent years trying to blend in. Learning languages and adapting to mannerisms, ultimately becoming whoever the room needed me to be. It took a long time to understand that the things that made me different were not problems to be solved. They were the pattern.

This piece is for anyone who has ever felt too much of one thing and not enough of another. Too loud. Too quiet. Too foreign. Too familiar.

You are not too anything. You are uniquely striped.

And there is no one else with your pattern.

All prints are on premium Hahnemühle 100% cotton rag archival paper, and are printed with archival pigmented inks.

Note: All print sizes come with an additional 1" white border, making a total size of: 12x10, 16x13, 22x18, 26x20, 38x26, 42x32. These borders give the collector the option of expanding their framing if they choose so. Each piece is hand signed by the artist on the additional border.
